What did you miss today? A goal, Solskjaer reacted sternly after the defeat to West Ham

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent Manchester United’s B-team to play West Ham on Wednesday, but they couldn’t cope with the London club and are out of the Carabao Cup.
What did the Red Devils lack to advance? A Sky Sports reporter asked the Norwegian coach and got a very simple answer.
“We missed a goal. We started slowly again and we have to solve this problem. After the goal we played well for a long time, but the statistics don’t mean anything. When you have 27 shots, you have to score at least one goal,” Solskjaer said after the game in an interview with Sky Sports.
Goals are often one of Manchester United’s biggest problems, something that has only been solved by Cristiano Ronaldo, who has incredibly increased the effectiveness of his teammates’ efforts.
This inability to assert himself is mostly blamed on Anthony Martial, who came on at full-back in Wednesday’s contest and came up empty once again.
In the current season, his record so far is 6 games and no goals or assists. In his defence, we must add that he has played only 190 minutes in the aforementioned six matches.
But why hasn’t Ronaldo even been on the bench? “We made a decision over the weekend. We need to have players fit, it’s going to be a long season. Ronaldo came in and immediately became a difference maker, he wants to play as much as he can, but I don’t think it’s possible. We need to give as much space as possible to the other players,” Solskjaer explained.
Edinson Cavani, who would otherwise no doubt have been on the pitch, was not medically fit either, so Martial was given his chance again and he disappointed time and time again, but he wasn’t the only one!
Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho did not put in a great performance either. Neither did Juan Mata, who was substituted in the second half.
Manchester United will now welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford and then Villarreal in the Champions League to avenge their Europa League final loss.
