Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best footballers in history. But he had to sacrifice a lot to get there, his lifestyle is legendary. Manchester United players soon found that out.
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Manchester United last week, going on a rampage against Newcastle on Saturday, scoring two goals in a 4-1 win. At 36, he is still at the peak of his powers, his physical fitness is incredible. What is the reason for his success?
That’s what Lee Grant, the Red Devils’ third goalkeeper, tried to get to the bottom of in an interview with talkSPORT.
“Usually on Fridays after dinner we have a cheat meal. We’ll either have apple pie, pudding or a brownie with cream,” Grant said.
“But if you saw this Friday… Not one player touched the apple pie, no one got up for the brownie, everyone just sat around waiting to see what Cristiano would do. One teammate asked me.
“It really got to me how not one player dared to pick up for the dessert we normally have every Friday. And what did Cristiano have? I’ll just give away one of his plates, which had quinoa, avocado and two boiled eggs,” said Grant.
Ronaldo has only been in Manchester for a few days, but already he has a huge influence on his teammates. Manchester United’s management knew very well why they were bringing the Portuguese back. He is not only paying off on the pitch, he is setting an example for all the youngsters, whether from the A-team or the academy.
