Sparta Prague’s journey through the Europa League is about to begin! Already on Thursday, coach Pavel Vrba’s charges will challenge the outsider of their group, Brondby Copenhagen. The team has not been very successful so far this season, so the Spartans will want to take all the points from the Danish capital.

Brondby have not had an ideal start to the 2021/22 season. They have already played eight league games and won only once.

However, they have drawn five times and are now in eighth place out of twelve teams in the league. Last season, however, Brondby were so successful that they won the league title for the first time since the 2004-05 season.

It also had a chance to qualify for the Champions League, but in the only qualifying match they lost twice 1:2 to Salzburg from Austria.

Sparta qualified for the second round of the Champions League by finishing second in the league. First they knocked out Rapid Vienna, then they lost to Monaco and went to the group stage of the Europa League.

In the Czech top competition, they were satisfied so far, despite the loss to Bohemians 1905, they could have had the same number of points as rival Slavia, but the loss in Plzeň spoiled their joy from the start of the season.

What to expect from the match? The teams have never faced each other before, the slight favourite will be the visiting Sparta, who could already have some players available who have been on the sidelines.

Both teams are also aware of how important this game could be. The third team of the group will play the playoffs for the European Conference League, so every point will come in handy.

What to bet on? Bettors believe more in the home team, but I would be more cautious. Sparta have been putting in a good performance in the new season, which shouldn’t change in Copenhagen.

I expect that they could win, however, a draw is also realistic. The odds on Sparta not losing are low, but a no draw bet might be more interesting.
