Slavia is experiencing disappointment, but there is no time to mourn. Legia Warsaw awaits with Pekhart in a week’s time
The Slavic dream has vanished. The Champions League will not be played in Eden again, just like last season. Compared to previous seasons, however, the Susians are in a worse situation, as they have to win the Europa League first.
The Slavic dream has vanished. The Champions League will not be played in Eden again, just like last season. Compared to previous seasons, however, the Susians are in a worse situation, as they have to win the Europa League first. The opponent will be Legia Warsaw with Tomas Pekhart.
While in three previous occasions Slavia went straight to the Europa League after being eliminated from the Champions League, this year they still have to enter the play-offs of this competition. And it will not be an easy opponent, as it will play Legia Warsaw.
The Polish champion has Tomáš Pekhart, who scored 22 goals in the Ekstraklasa last year and became the competition’s top scorer.
However, in the last five games he has only featured once in the starting line-up, in the other four he has come on as a substitute. It is not at all clear whether he will start against Slavia in the starting line-up.
Coach Czeslaw Michniewicz is relying more on Portuguese forward Rafa Lopes and the summer signing from Karabakh, 24-year-old Azerbaijani Mahir Emrel.
The Sixers start the double-header in Eden on Thursday, with the rematch scheduled for Poland a week later.
If Jindřich Trpišovský’s charges fail to get past Legia, only the Conference League would await them.
