The thin offside line in the Premier League last season clearly favoured the defensive team. Now it will be the other way around, when checking for potential offsides the line will get an update and should be thicker. This will shift the advantage to the attacking team and fans could see more goals.

A thicker offside line will eliminate ridiculously cancelled goals when judging offside, when there was an offside by an inch and so on. This is certainly great news for the attractiveness of the game.

There will also be some minor changes to the hand play, which has been a source of a lot of questions in the 2020/2021 season.

However, the judgement in the final will remain with the referee, who will decide whether the player used his hand to make his body intentionally “bigger” at that moment.

Let’s hope that changes in the use of VAR technology will bring positive changes and fans will see as many fair football fights as possible in the 2021/2022 season.

Czech journalists Jiří Hošek, Luděk Mádl and Jaromír Bosák are also noticing the news! They will discuss the whole situation in the new episode of the Englishman Podcast.

Check out the hilarious commercial where the popular Czech commentator Jaromír Bosák duels with the Seznam Zprav chief reporter.
