The first place of judoka Lukáš Krpálek is a sensation! the 30-year-old native of Jihlava followed up his gold from Rio and the whole country is amazed by his success. The domestic Olympic team has already won three of the most valuable metals and is currently the thirteenth most successful team in the world at the Olympic Games in Tokyo!
Krpálek wrestled in the over 100 kg category and cleared all opponents in his golden journey! He defeated Javad Mahdjoub of the Refugee Olympic Team in the eighth round, and knocked out Uzbek Bekmurod Oltiboev in the quarterfinals.
In the semi-finals he had a huge nut to crack in the form of home fighter Hisayoshi Harasawi, but he also handled the Japanese. The big drama came in the final fight with Georgian Guram Tushishvili.
Krpálek had big problems with his rival and already had two yellow cards in the fight. But he worked hard in the last crucial minute and led the fight to a clear victory.
And now finally to the topic! Let’s take a look together at the public reaction, which has literally come to life on social media with great success.
Reactions of the Czech public
“You simply cannot wish this on Lukas Krpálek. I am as moved as Tornado Lou at the sight of the Lemonade Man,” wrote the beloved commentator Jaromír Bosák on Twitter.
“If Hollywood won’t film Lukáš Krpálek’s story, they’re a bunch of d*mn f*cks!” surprised the otherwise eternally calm Jiří Hošek (creator of the football podcast The Englishman) with a somewhat wild comment.
Football stars of Czech Twitter – Neobjektivní Novinář and Tomáš Kučera (midfielder of Teplice and member of the rap group 58G) also commented on the great success. Their comments were really amusing.
Kučera’s tweet has already gathered almost 5000 likes in a short time, Neobjektivní Novinář has surpassed a thousand hearts.
“Lukas Krpálek scored when it was 0:2 on yellow cards. A kind of Judaic Csaplar trap,” wrote the Livesport Product Owner.
Ondřej Kasík, the director of communication of Sparta Prague, also commented on the success with really decent words. “Lukáš Krpálek is a well-deserved reward for the whole Czech judo, its history and all officials, competitors and coaches. For all those who do judo with love and passion, maybe even all their lives, after work and after school. Congratulations to all of you.”
