Can’t do it without the Czechs? West Ham drew with a team from the fourth league in the preparation, won the second game thanks to an own goal

West Ham are unbeaten after three preliminary matches. However, they played Scottish Premier League newcomer Dundee and League One and League Two teams on Tuesday. How did Tuesday’s game go and who scored?

The Hammers drew 2-2 in their first preliminary match. They had to make up for a two-goal lead against Dundee, but in the second half they averted embarrassment and at least equalised.

On Tuesday, West Ham had two games. The A-team was split down the middle and supplemented by players from the youth team. The first team was led by Mark Noble, while the second was led by another experienced player, Craig Dawson.

Dawson’s team faced Northampton. The three-league team scored two goals, but only one into the correct net. For West Ham, defensive midfielder Conor Coventry still made his mark and the Hammers won the first game.

Not much interesting happened in Noble’s team’s match with Leyton Orient. Although Noble had the killer Mikhail Antonio above him, West Ham didn’t score and the match with the team from the fourth English league ended goalless.

Czech national players Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal did not take part in either game, being on holiday after finishing at the Euros. They should be available for the next game against Reading (21 June).
