Gianluigi Buffon has returned to where he started in football. He is once again a player of Parma, relegated to Serie B. At 43, he might be thinking about the end of his career, but the opposite is true. He has spoken to the media on a number of subjects.
The legendary Gianluigi Buffon gave an extensive interview to Sky Sport. In it, he commented first and foremost on his return to Parma, where he left 21 years ago for Juventus.
“I still have the desire to impress and prove that I am an athlete. I love challenges and that’s why I continue,” the now Parma goalkeeper let himself be heard again.
“I have no doubt that I can play another 4-5 years in peace. Physically I’m fine, I have experience and I have the right reasons to continue,” Buffon continued.
The now 43-year-old goalkeeper admits that he has to be humble at Parma in order to establish a relationship with his teammates. However, he says the ice has already been broken and there is a friendly, positive and great atmosphere in the team.
However, the conversation did not only revolve around his return to Parma. In Italy, winning the Euro is very much on the agenda, so Buffon praised the whole team. He particularly praised the performances of the stopper duo Chiellini, Bonucci, but also praised Chiesa, Insigne and Jorginho.
Of course, his successor Gianluigi Donnarumma also earned his attention. “In my opinion, he can win the Ballon d’Or. He has to target it. When you’re young you have to strive for the best, not feel complacent,” Buffon is clear.
The Juventus theme was not to be missed. There has been a change of coach at the Turin outfit, with Massimiliano Allegri returning to the job. Buffon believes the club has the quality to win the league again. No one, he says, knows better than Allegri what Juventus need to succeed.
