In less than two weeks, three teams from our top competition will enter the European Cups. Sparta will face Rapid Vienna in the Champions League, while Plzeň and Slovácko will try to knock out Dinamo Brest and Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League qualifiers.
Sparta will play Rapid Vienna in the second round of the Champions League. The latter has already played five preliminary matches with a record of two wins, two draws and one loss.
The last two matches, in which Rapid tested Lokomotiv Moscow (0:0) and St. Polten (2:2), should be taken seriously.
On the positive side for Sparta, Rapid’s young talent Yusuf Demir has gone on a one-year loan with a €10 million option to Barcelona, so he will not be involved in the double-header.
Plzeň’s opponent, Dinamo Brest from Belarus, is already playing league matches, as the season starts earlier in Belarus.
And it’s not doing as well as expected, only seventh after 15 rounds, with six games to go (0-4-2). Even in its current state, Plzeň should be able to run over such an opponent.
Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Slovácko’s opponent, has played three games so far in the pre-season. It has won one of them and has three more to come, with Ludogorets, last year’s Bulgarian league champion, in between the games against Uherské Hradiště.
