It sounds unbelievable, but the Sergio Ramos – Real Madrid connection could soon become a thing of the past. Will the Royal club legend leave in the summer transfer window?

The association of legends with their respective clubs not only creates a strong sporting bond, but also writes a rich history.

Whether it was the association between Francesco Totti and AS Roma or Filippo Inzaghi and AC Milan, one gets the feeling that once this bond is broken, the football world will no longer be the same. And now, according to available information, another such break-up is about to happen.

This is indicated not only by the fact that the current Real Madrid captain was absent at the unveiling of the new jerseys for the following season, but also by the fact that he still has not signed a new contract. In fact, the Spanish outfit has already secured Nacho and also brought top defender David Alaba to the club.

And according to Spanish sports daily Diario AS, which specialises mainly in football, the 35-year-old defender’s departure is getting closer and closer. In fact, Ramos is demanding a new two-year contract from his current employer, which apparently has not been agreed with the club’s management.

According to ESPN, however, Ramos is being attempted by English reigning champions Manchester City, who have sent details to the Spanish club of a concrete offer with a contract proposal. It would be the aforementioned two-year deal. Indeed, the White Ballet will be looking to rejuvenate their squad and kick-start the next generation that will once again bring Madrid the greatest success.

However, the Spanish international has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu before. The first time was in 2015, when he refused to sign a new contract proposed by the club’s management. Back then, he was very close to becoming a star signing for the second Manchester club.

The second time, speculations around his person appeared two years back after the match against Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam. And the third time, when he tried to move to China as a free agent. However, this transfer was prevented by Real president Florentino Pérez’s ban.

This year’s transfer window is going to be a hell of a busy one, given the many emerging speculations across Europe.
