On Wednesday 31st May, the final of the Teskahor Cup of the Prague Football Association took place. Tempo Praha and Olympie Radotín competed in it. Victory promised to bring not only glory and ovations, but also participation in the MOL Cup preliminary round.

The clear favourites were the footballers from Tempo Prague, who are currently in third place in the Prague Football Championship.

Radotín, on the other hand, is languishing in the lowest places and will probably be relegated to the lower competition. Nevertheless, it managed to fight its way through to the finals against very strong Spoje and Dukla Jižní Město, so it was not expected to be a walk in the park for the other team.

Tempo had already made it to the final last year, where they eventually lost to Újezd Praha 4 on penalties. Just like last year, a large group of youngsters came out to support their club and managed to create a very good atmosphere in the stands.

There were loud shouts, drums and even pyro. Young footballers from both teams also came to play a short game at half-time.

The main game was really exciting. It was the team from Prague Lhotka that took the lead in the 43rd minute thanks to a goal by Tomáš Havlíček. Tempo was a little bit better team most of the time, although Radotín also started interesting actions.

One of his chances was converted by Jiří Doležal, which tied the game at 1:1. It was starting to look like it was going to be penalty kicks again. Fortunately for the red and yellow team, Kostka got the ball in the 81st minute and again swung the lead to Tempo. This lasted until the end of the match, which allowed for massive celebrations to break out.

Fans poured onto the pitch in large numbers to rejoice with their team over the trophy. As we have already mentioned, the men from Tempo took not only the trophy, but also the future participation in the MOL Cup preliminary round.

In the previous year, the winner Teskahor Újezd Praha 4 managed to qualify for the next round after winning against Petřín Plzeň. They were stopped by the third league Motorlet. Let’s see how far this year’s champions will go.

However, what is very encouraging for Czech football is that even within the amateur scene there can be a large gathering of fans and interesting scenery in the stands.

The club from Lhotka is a shining example in this respect, because even their away games are very well attended by the standards. Let’s hope that other clubs will be inspired by this.
