Mauricio Pochettino has one foot in Chelsea. The Argentine coach is expected to sign a three-year contract

The floundering Chelsea will have a new manager in the summer. Frank Lampard will not continue at the club and his successor is expected to be former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the engagement of an experienced pilot is a done deal.

There is no end to the London club’s woes, with the eleventh place in the Premier League definitely not a happy place among the fans. Moreover, the performance is not that of a team that should be competing for the highest ranks. Chelsea’s play on the pitch resembles chaos that needs to be sorted out.

It should be solved by the Argentine coach, who is best known for his stints at Tottenham and PSG, where, incidentally, he won his first coaching trophy in his career.

With Spurs, he reached the final of the Champions League in the 2018/19 season, where he lost to Liverpool.

His arrival at the Blues was reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who focuses specifically on transfers, both player and coaching ones.

Pochettino is currently without an engagement. The last one ended on July 5, 2022, when he agreed to terminate his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. This was mainly due to the failure in the Champions League and also due to the tense situation between the coach and the star players.

Some of his charges complained that the Argentine did not have enough authority and respect in the cabinet.

Pochettino is paid as a coach who professes an attacking style of football combined with high pressing. One of Spurs’ main weapons under Pochettino has been a quick transition into the attacking phase.

The Argentine coach will therefore return to the UK capital after almost four years. Whether he can take Chelsea back to the top, we will probably see next season.
