Real Madrid beat Osasuna to win the Copa del Rey. Kroos wins first Spanish Cup in 9 years
La Liga, the Champions League, the Spanish and European Super Cups and the Club World Cup. Toni Kroos has won it all at Real Madrid. He only missed the Copa del Rey and after nine years, he finally collected all the trophies he could have won in Spain.
La Liga, the Champions League, the Spanish and European Super Cups and the Club World Cup. Toni Kroos has won it all at Real Madrid. He only missed the Copa del Rey and after nine years, he finally collected all the trophies he could have won in Spain.
It’s unbelievable. Toni Kroos has been at Real Madrid since 2014 and has won every trophy possible – except one. The Copa del Rey was still eluding him, until now.
At La Cartuja National Stadium, Real Madrid challenged Osasuna, who had a dream season and reached the cup final for only the second time in their history.
Los Blancos started brilliantly and in the 2nd minute Rodrygo opened the scoring. But then Real eased up and let Osasuna equalise when Torro scored in the 58th minute.
But Real took the lead back soon enough, with Rodrygo adding his second goal in the 70th minute. Carlo Ancelotti’s men had already taken the lead and won the Copa del Rey.
Coincidentally, the last Real Madrid coach to lift the Spanish trophy was also Carlo Ancelotti in 2014.
And it was in the summer of 2014, after a successful World Cup, that Toni Kroos arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu. Since then, he has had a hat-trick of Champions League wins, winning La Liga and Super Cups and Club World Cups, but the Copa del Rey has always eluded him.
It’s only now, nine years on, that he can finally say he’s completed his football. Now there’s no trophy missing from his cabinet.
