The judges are bought! Cameras caught Koke complaining about the referee in the Barcelona game
Atlético Madrid played a match at the Camp Nou at the weekend, where they lost to Barcelona 0:1. However, the Colchoneros should have had a penalty late in the game after a Busquets handball, but the referee did not whistle it. And Atlético captain Koke was quite upset.
Atlético Madrid played a match at the Camp Nou at the weekend, where they lost to Barcelona 0:1. However, the Colchoneros should have had a penalty at the end of the match after Busquets’ hand, but the referee did not whistle it. And Atlético captain Koke was quite upset.
While Barcelona are already virtually assured of the La Liga title, Atlético are now playing for second place ahead of rivals Real Madrid.
Sunday’s game at the Camp Nou was not as good as ever. Still, it’s always about prestige, points and, last but not least, money.
Barcelona were sent into the lead just before half-time by Ferran Torres, Atlético could have equalised in the second half.
The ball actually came down on Sergio Busquets’ hand and, according to the new rule about the hand, a penalty kick is played in such a case. There have been several similar ones in the current La Liga season.
But the referee didn’t whistle the penalty and VAR didn’t correct it either. The cameras showed Colchoneros captain Koke complaining about the referee.
Koke’s comments have been making the rounds on the internet in Spain, especially because of the current case. Barcelona is accused of bribing referees, having paid the vice-president of the referees’ commission for years.
The “Negreira case” is shaking the whole of Spain and new information is emerging every day. But we’ll have to wait a few years for the verdict.
