The second round of the top women’s league is just around the corner and this weekend we will also see the Prague S derby, which will be played at the main stadium in Letná. And this time it’s going to be really big.
The last derby was played less than a month ago, at the end of March Sparta won 1:0 after Lauren Chang’s goal and moved up to the first place in the league.
They won the regular season and the two teams will play again in the second round. And this time it will be played at the main stadium in Letná.
Slavia entered the extra time with a win against dangerous Slovácko, Michaela Khýrová, Martina Šurnovská and Denisa Veselá scored.
The Sparta players had a day off, the clash with Slovan Liberec was postponed to May 3. Slavia is now back in the lead and if they don’t lose at Letná they will stay there at least until the next round.
The playoffs are played on a one-two system, so even this derby may not yet decide the league winner, but if Sparta wins, they will be a big favourite.
The derby will be played this Sunday, April 23, at Letná at 1:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here and will also be available at the door. Sparta season ticket holders get the game for free.
However, outside of the title group, there is also a game for retention. Baník Ostrava is the hot candidate for relegation with five points, while seventh-placed Dukla Prague has only three points more. On Saturday, the two teams will face each other and a win for Dukla will basically decide the game.
