The English marksman could be considered one of the biggest underdogs. Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world, but he is missing one thing. Winning trophies. The chairman of the club has spoken about his future.
Harry Kane has had to endure many a huge disappointment in his career. Whether it was losing his first League Cup final match against Chelsea or the Champions League final against Liverpool.
He’s also been unsuccessful on the national stage. During the European Championships last year, he and England reached the final, where they lost to Italy.
In February this year, he became the top scorer in Tottenham’s history when he broke a fifty-year-old record set by Jimmy Greaves. He must already be considered a club legend. However, his mark could be even more noticeable if he brings the club the much-needed trophy success.
They have been waiting for that success in the white part of London for fifteen long years. However, the club’s chairman, Daniel Levy, believes that Harry Kane can win trophies with the club.
“Harry can definitely win trophies with Spurs,” he told the Cambridge Union. “But becoming a legend is also important. Just the fact that he’s the top scorer in the club’s history. He’s making history. I hope one day he will have a statue outside the stadium,” the chairman continued.
Tottenham are certainly not struggling for success. However, in recent times, they have had José Mourinho or Antonio Conte on their bench, coaches who have found success wherever they have worked so far.
Harry Kane’s future
Pretty much every summer transfer window, there is speculation over the future of the English goalscorer. It is hinted by fans that if he wants to win trophies, he needs to leave the club.
For now, he has chosen to always be loyal and determined to succeed. The Daily Express today came up with the news that Kane will become the number one priority for French side PSG.
In case any of the clubs are interested in acquiring him, they would have to come up with an offer hovering around £88 million. That’s a flat 100 million euros.
