MLS clubs are planning to fold on Messi! The reason for this is the possibly significantly higher value of TV rights
It sounds like science fiction, but it makes sense in a broader context. The American MLC would be delighted if one of the world’s best players, Lionel Messi, chose one of their clubs as a future station. And since no club has the funds to cover his monthly wages, other clubs would pay for him. Why would they do that?

In Europe, this move is incomprehensible to us. However, if we look at it in more detail, we can understand why the American MLS would want to go for it.
The idea is that the clubs in MLS want to join together to pay Lionel Messi’s monthly salary if he chooses one of the clubs in that competition.
Of course, why would the clubs pay a player who will not be theirs? There is a reason for this curious plan, and that is television rights, the price of which would skyrocket.
Since none of the teams have the money to cover Messi’s salary, the teams would team up and make a lot more money than if he didn’t come to the US.
In fact, the TV rights would more than cover the loss in wages. Not to mention the elevation of the popularity of the competition and thus more power in the transfer market.
So Messi’s path to Major League Soccer is open and all the player has to do is choose the club he wants to play for. That is, if he does not stay at PSG.
In France, he is in demand and contract extension negotiations are still ongoing. However, the pressure on Messi at France’s top club from the fans is so great that a departure looks more likely.
