Bellingham probably won’t be coming to Liverpool. Both rivals are better off financially

Jude Bellingham is probably the most in-demand player in the world right now. Only 19 years old, the Borussia Dortmund gem is wanted all over the world, with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City the biggest favourites. However, the Reds are slowly dropping out of the race.

Bellingham started playing for Birmingham at the age of 16, after just one season he moved to Dortmund where he very quickly earned a place in the starting line-up.

He gradually became a leader and captain and played with England at the World Cup, where he was one of Albion’s best players.

Logically, there was a big scramble for the 19-year-old midfielder. Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, PSG, Bellingham can choose from the best clubs in the world.

There is a lot of pressure from England in particular to bring the Golden Boy back home to the Premier League. But Bellingham himself is said to prefer Real Madrid, with the club’s chief scout Juan Calafat having already met the player’s father last week.

Liverpool and Manchester City are also among the favourites for the transfer of the player with 124 starts for Borussia. The Reds need Bellingham badly, as their midfield is falling apart and Jürgen Klopp is a big admirer of his.

But Bellingham is under contract at Dortmund until 2025 and has no exit clause. So it’s not just up to the player where he wants to go, as it was with Erling Haaland last year, but also which club Borussia will accept the offer.

Liverpool? Probably not

It could happen that there will be a “bidding war” for the player. And according to David Ornstein of the renowned daily The Athletic, it is very unlikely at the moment that Bellingham will end up at Liverpool.

“Liverpool have been linked with Bellingham perhaps most of all and Klopp is a great admirer of his. But the expected fee, the financial strength of their rivals and Liverpool’s reticence to enter a bidding war greatly reduce the Reds’ chances, ” Ornstein reported.

“It doesn’t mean Liverpool have given up the fight, but all sources with good knowledge of the situation think City and Real are now in a stronger position,” added the journalist with perhaps the best insight into the Premier League.

Liverpool could also be badly hurt by the fact that they may not qualify for the Champions League at all, which would make the chances of Bellingham’s arrival even slimmer. Furthermore, the squad is very over-aged, unmotivated and needs a good cleansing.

On the other hand, Manchester City and Real Madrid have stacked squads that are immediately ready to attack the highest targets.

Liverpool have already been in a tug of war with the Spanish giant for a midfielder, last summer Klopp was very keen on Aurélien Tchouaméni, but the French midfielder chose Real Madrid, who ended up paying Monaco €80 million and added €20 million in bonuses.
