The future of the young English “megastar” has long been discussed. And this summer looks set to be a breakthrough. Every top European team would like to bring Jud Bellingham into their ranks. The Birmingham graduate dreams of Real Madrid. The defending Champions League champions are willing to offer a sum in excess of €100 million, according to recent reports.
Where to with Bellingham? The 19-year-old midfielder is one of the most sought-after commodities in the current football market. However, not everyone can afford to bring him into their ranks at today’s prices. The two biggest favourites to get him are Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The former urgently, but really urgently, needs to strengthen the midfield. After all, players like Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and the versatile James Milner have their best footballing years behind them.
Even Thiago is not brimming with form, so coach Jürgen Klopp has started to rely on youngsters Stefan Bajcetic and Harvey Elliott. And it is the poor performance of the midfield in particular that Liverpool are paying the most for this season.
They are only sixth in the league table and ended up in the Champions League on the hoof of Real Madrid players.
Currently, the second team of the Spanish La Liga is much better off, but even they should slowly start thinking about rejuvenating their midfield.
The Luka Modric – Toni Kroos pairing is most often backed up by Tchouaméni, but his compatriot Camavinga is also gradually working his way into the starting line-up.
However, if we are talking about the name Jude Bellingham, we are talking about a reinforcement to the starting line-up. With the current distribution of forces in Liverpool’s squad, he should have an almost certain place in the starting 11, but in the Spanish team it would be a bit more difficult.
In his own words, however, Bellingham dreams of transferring to Madrid right now. The latter, according to the latest reports from Spanish website Sport, is said to be offering up to €140 million for his services. €100 million would be received by Borussia as a fixed fee, with another €40 million in bonuses.
However, no deal has been concluded at the moment. The future is still open for the Birmingham-born player.
