Is 2023 in the UFC marked by big comebacks? After the spectacular return of the legendary Jon Jones, we’re likely to see the comeback of Irish star Conor McGregor at the end of the summer, as he is currently filming the next episode of The Ultimate Fighter reality show.
But that’s certainly not all. The biggest MMA organization in the world just posted another big comeback on their website. That’s because after almost three years, Olympic champion and former two-time UFC champion Henry Cejudo is returning.
He announced his retirement from fighting in 2020 and has been training at the American Fight Ready gym for the past few years. It’s worth mentioning that Jiri Prochazka also practiced his wrestling skills with him before his title fight with Teixeira.
But now he’s back in action and will jump straight into a title fight with bantamweight king Aljamain Sterling.
He’s pulling an eight fight win streak in a row and pays off as a very dangerous fighter on the ground, so a comparison of their fighting skills will be interesting to watch.
In fact, the organization has released the starting lineup for the UFC 288 gala in May and we definitely have something to look forward to. Aside from the aforementioned title fight, MMA fans will get to see a lightweight title shot among other things.
The latter will feature Charles Oliveira, who holds the top spot in the organization’s history for performance of the night bonuses. He will then be opposed by Beneil Dariush, who has long been calling for a title opportunity.
