VIDEO: Seven for Manchester, no goal for Bournemouth. Liverpool fell to the last team in the table

Liverpool didn’t make it through Saturday’s game at Bournemouth. With a first-half goal, they lost and offered their opponents a chance to leave the relegation zone. On the other hand, the Reds did not follow up their 7-0 triumph over Manchester United.

Liverpool got their first shot in the fifth minute, but the goalkeeper had an easy job. A minute later Virgil van Dijk came close to scoring, but his header was cleared off the line by Jefferson Lerma.

On the other side, Dango Ouattara rounded Alisson Becker and then missed the open goal. The good pace of the game continued, with Cody Gakpo opening the scoring in the 13th minute, but his joy was cut short by an offside.

In the 28th minute, the celebration was on the other side. Ouattara broke away from the defence and Philip Billing cleared the ball in a good position.

In the 42nd minute, van Dijk had the equaliser but missed the space between the three posts. An entertaining first half ended with the underdogs leading 1-0.

After the change of sides, substitute Diogo Jota sent in a precise shot, but Neto made an excellent save. In the 67th minute, defender Adam Smith also played a handball for a change, which the head referee discovered after watching the replay.

Mohamed Salah, who had been lacklustre until then, took the ball but missed the target.

Liverpool continued to be active, but it led to nothing. On the other hand, Ryan Christie almost struck at the other end, Alisson intervened. Bournemouth held on to win 1-0 at home.

With three points, they will be out of the relegation zone in at least six hours. Liverpool remain fifth, three points behind fifth-placed Tottenham.
