Messi and the future? Aguero reveals what option the PSG star is considering

Lionel Messi is now deciding his future. His contract with PSG expires in the summer and his possible return to Barcelona is being discussed in the media, with Inter Miami also interested. But there is apparently a completely different, but all the more fabulous, option in play.
Arguably the greatest footballer of all time could be a free agent from the summer. Lionel Messi is only under contract in Paris until the end of the season and although PSG are working on an extension, there is speculation about other options.
In recent days, there have been two candidates in particular. One of them is Barcelona, with which the Argentine was linked even a year after he had to leave it. Coach Xavi himself has said that Messi is welcome in the team.
The other interested party is supposed to be the overseas club Inter Miami, whose coach Phil Neville has not denied his club’s interest. On the contrary. The team, owned by David Beckham, is said to have the highest ambitions and wants to bring in the best footballers on the planet.
But there is also a completely different possibility, as reported by Messi’s long-time and close friend Sergio Aguero. The former Atlético Madrid or Barcelona player revealed to UOL that Messi is seriously considering a return to his parent club.
That is Newell’s Old Boys, where Messi started his football career. Should Messi decide to do so, it would be a truly romantic and fairytale return. Especially after winning the World Cup with Argentina.
Aguero might have revealed more in the interview, however, he was cut short by another former Argentine footballer, Maxi Rodriguez. “It’s difficult to talk about it because then a huge mass of different rumours arise. Let’s wait and see what happens,” he added after silencing Aguero.
It’s worth noting that Rodriguez retired in 2021 and will be bidding farewell this summer in a Newell’s Old Boys jersey at the stadium named after coach Marcelo Bielsa. Messi is expected to play as well.
According to OLE, Messi scored a sensational 234 goals in 176 games for the Argentine side in the youth categories between 1994 and 1999.
