The English second division is very evenly matched, as it is every season. Unless you count Burnley, who under Vincent Kompany dominate the competition. It seems that this year we will see a big fight for promotion to the elite.
Sunderland, who have won many fans with their Sunderland ‘Till I Die’ series, may also fight for a return to the Premier League. Currently the Black Cats are in sixth position, which guarantees a play-off for promotion.
Sunderland have not lost for five games in a row. They’re in pretty good form. But there are still a lot of teams fighting for the playoffs. As one win can potentially move the Black Cats into fourth position, one loss can mean a drop to ninth.
After all, even 16th-placed Reading are nine points behind fourth. Three rounds and the table could look very different. However, Sunderland have combative players in their team and midfielder Luke O’Nien has shown it.
In fact, the English footballer showed his worth in the last league game against Bristol City. The opponent was on the run and O’Nien tried to stop the dangerous situation at any cost. In an attempt to catch up with his opponent, he jumped on his back and mounted him.
Naturally, O’Nien was shown a yellow card for the foul. He then shared the whole situation himself in a video on social media, where he made fun of himself. “That’s when we all realised I was an idiot,” the Sunderland player let slip.
Afterwards, however, O’Nien invited fans to create all sorts of reactions, collages and edit the video into as funny a form as possible. The winner of his competition will then win a jersey signed by all the club’s players.
