Kutil has a demanding schedule ahead of him
The name Patrik Kutil doesn’t mean anything to you? Then it’s time to remember him, because he is one of our great talents. After all, the fact that in September he became the European youth champion in MMA proves it.
But now he has an even harder task ahead of him. He will take part in the World Youth Championships in the weight category up to 57 kilograms. If he wants to win the tournament, he must complete five fights in five days. He will have to make weight every morning.
“In Europe, thanks to the free draw, I only had three fights and I was already very broken in the finals,” Kutil recalls his great success from last autumn.
“I weigh in, drink, have breakfast and then I don’t eat anymore to keep the weight down. Weigh-ins are at 7 a.m. and I wrestle around lunchtime. I’m a small weight, so I always wrestle among the first ones during the day, which is at least a little bit of an advantage,” he let it be known.
Along with Kutil, however, all the medallists from the continental championships will come to Belgrade. According to the promising Czech fighter, the Asians will be the best, but the Europeans should be better off than the hopefuls from Africa or North and South America.
Kutil started MMA three years ago
It’s worth noting that Kutil has only been involved in combat sports for three years. “When I saw Végh take down Vémola at the O2 Arena, I knew I wanted to do it too. I boxed for the first two months, then I moved on to MMA,” he revealed.
In three or four years he wants to be a professional. By then, he wants to not only get stronger, but also gain experience in world and European tournaments under the IMMAF banner. Among his strengths, he counts complexity and a strong head.
He gained his confidence from the successful European Championships and in addition he is working on it with Jaroslav Hovezak, who is the national coach and also the coach of Jiri Prochazka, former UFC champion. Kutil wants to get to the UFC one day.
“Jiri Prochazka is a great role model for me and gives me motivation. It’s great that he’s doing a great promotion for us in the UFC. Compared to Vemola, who only talks, Procházka is a great example of what an MMA fighter should look like. I would like my generation to follow Jirka’s example,” concluded Kutil.
