8. pL round: Two big city derbies or a battle of the worst teams for the future of the coaches

The eighth round of the Premier League will clearly be the most exciting yet. It will offer two city derbies of teams from the big six, but also a battle between the last team and the penultimate one. Why watch these games?

Arsenal vs. Tottenham

The match between Arsenal and Tottenham is always a feast of football, but this time it’s for the top spot. The Gunners go into the game from first place, with Spurs just one point behind. It’s a situation that hasn’t been seen in a North London derby for a long time.

And both clubs are looking good, too. Gabriel Jesus, Granit Xhaka and William Saliba are shining for Arsenal. Tottenham’s squad is in the form of Arsenal specialist Heung Min Son or Brazilian Richarlison.

Manchester City vs. Manchester United

Even Manchester City can get to the top of the league, but they need an Arsenal loss and they also need to win their derby. Manchester United are off to a terrible start, currently five points behind the Citizens and with a game to spare.

Still, the favourite is clear, especially with the game being played at the Etihad and considering Erling Haaland’s form. The visiting stopper duo of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez have reportedly sat down, now the real test awaits them.

Leicester vs. Nottingham

Both teams were tipped by the pre-season experts to be fighting for the top ten, both remain below expectations so far. Leicester are clearly last with one point, four-point Nottingham are nineteenth despite a massive summer strengthening.

It’s hard to say who is actually under more pressure. Leicester have sound names in their squad, Nottingham have spent incredible money. Neither team can afford to lose, Brendan Rodgers could well be sacked even if they draw. It will be an all-out game for both coaches.
