The long two weeks without the world’s most watched football league are over, with the English Premier League returning on Saturday. This time the schedule doesn’t offer a big game, but there is definitely something to pay attention to.

West Ham vs. Manchester City

The Hammers are clearly the biggest surprise of the Premier League teams from the season opener. Ten points from four rounds after the departure of Declan Rice was expected by few, West Ham are the only ones so far to have also fended off the Brighton Seagulls.

The English trio of James Ward-Prowse, Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio have been particularly successful so far, with summer signing Edson Alvarez catching on well in midfield. The joker role is surprisingly well suited to Said Benrahm.

The Citizens are the only ones with 100%, but they are still waiting for Erling Haaland’s total form and especially for Kevin de Bruyne’s return. In the raucous atmosphere at the London stadium, it could well be a stalemate.

Manchester United vs. Brighton

The Red Devils have lost twice in the opening four rounds, and if points were awarded for the way they played, they would have three instead of six. United were no better than Nottingham or Wolves, this time they are facing a much tougher opponent.

Brighton have beaten Newcastle, Wolves and Luton, and, though they fell to West Ham, they have clearly outplayed the Londoners. The quality of the squad has grown over the summer, the Seagulls have quality players on the bench as well.

Everton vs. Arsenal

You are probably rightly wondering “Why this game?” But it was Arsenal that Everton used to save themselves last year. They beat them at home, although there was no sign of it. Now the Toffees are down to a single point and are floundering.

Although the Gunners hold ten points, they have played three times at home and are still waiting for a clear-cut win. A quick goal could be a pre-requisite to the debacle, Everton have been affected by the departure of stopper Conor Coady so far.
