EURO 2020 is just around the corner and Europe’s biggest stars will be there. And the best scorers, who, in addition to the winner’s trophy, will compete for the prize for the tournament’s top scorer. Who will score the most goals?

In 2004, during the European Championships in Portugal, Milan Baroš won the trophy with 5 goals. He scored consecutively against Latvia, the Netherlands, Germany and twice against Denmark. He left behind such names as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Zinedine Zidane.

This year’s EURO offers a very promising spectacle, and there could be several top scorers. Take a look at the top 5 candidates.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal

As long as he plays, he will always feature on lists like this. His hunger for goals is endless, his finishing is first class. Not for nothing is he the top goalscorer in football history.

The team he will captain can especially help him. Portugal has a golden generation, and Ronaldo will be supplied with passes by stars such as Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Jõao Felix, Diogo Jota and Jõao Cancelo.

Kylian Mbappé – France

Considered by many to be one of the hottest candidates for the tournament’s top scorer award, the 22-year-old superstar has scored 27 goals in the French league this season, adding 7 in the cup and 8 in the Champions League.

As with Ronaldo, the team he has around him also plays a role here. France are bringing an incredibly star-studded squad to the Euros. In addition, Mbappé will have another goalscorer next to him in Karim Benzema, who would also fit into this list, but the extent of his injury is not yet known.

Robert Lewandowski – Poland

No need for too much introduction. As renamed by Bayern teammate Thomas Müller, it’s simply Robert LewanGoalski. He broke Gerd Müller’s 50-year-old record in the Bundesliga, scoring an incredible 41 goals. he also scored 5 goals in the Champions League.

The only thing that knocks the Bayern sniper’s chances a bit is the fact that he doesn’t have as strong a team as Ronaldo or Mbappé. Poland are definitely not among the favourites for the tournament, but Lewandowski could still shoot to the top.

Harry Kane – England

Harry Kane equals Tottenham. The 27-year-old striker has literally been dragging Spurs on his shoulders all season, god knows where they would have ended up without him. He has notched up the most goals (23) and the most assists (14) in the entire Premier League.

The England captain will be in charge of a very interesting team. Sancho, Foden, Rashford, Sterling and Grealish will be operating around him. Kane definitely has a great chance to succeed, Czech footballers will have the opportunity to stop him.

Romelu Lukaku – Belgium

We already have the top scorer of the Italian, French, German and English leagues in the selection, so let’s add the second top scorer of the Italian one. Romelu Lukaku scored 24 goals, added 9 assists and led Inter to the title.

He is included in this selection mainly because his record with the national team is fantastic. He has scored a staggering 58 goals in 84 games. He will also benefit from the passes of Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard.
