This weekend sees the 35th round of the Premier League, with the top of the table and the relegation zone up for grabs. Burnley can make the second league closer to Everton’s footballers, while at West Ham Stadium Arsenal will fight for the Champions League.

The clash of the upstart

The situation around the title is unchanged for several weeks now. Manchester City are leading by a point, Liverpool have a four-goal better goal difference, which will play a role in a draw. Four games to go.

Manchester City play Leeds, Liverpool have a tougher nut to crack. A rampant Newcastle at home will be looking to score, they have their fourth best league form since the New Year. It has won the last four rounds, plus the Reds have a Champions League semi-final on their hands on Wednesday.

Burnley’s unique chance

A depreciated Burnley have done it, and thanks to wins over Southampton and Wolverhampton last week, they have climbed out of the relegation zone. It has sent Everton to the eighteenth spot, who also have a game against Chelsea to play.

It’s the Clearets who have a more favourable lot, going to the ground of very likely relegated Watford. The home side must win, but Burnley will also want the three points, who, if they win, can leapfrog Everton to a gap of five points.

London derby for everything

Arsenal are back in contention for the Champions League thanks to last week’s wins and currently have a two-point lead over fifth-placed Tottenham from fourth place. Spurs welcome Leicester at home and Arsenal face West Ham in the London derby.

The Hammers are prioritising the Europa League, having lost their opening semi-final to Frankfurt 1-2. Due to the tightness of the squad, we cannot expect a big rotation, so a rested Arsenal will have a clear advantage and West Ham should beat them. We’ll see…
