After a week of postponed matches, the 30th round of the Premier League kicks off on Saturday. The main showpiece will be the confrontation between Liverpool and Arsenal, but the space between the third and ninth place in the table will also offer interesting duels.
Liverpool vs. Arsenal
Despite playing the eighth with the first, clearly this is the match of the round. And if Arsenal win it, they will be a little closer to the dream title again.
Liverpool are definitely not in the game, but they can take on Arsenal at home (six league wins in a row). The atmosphere factor at Anfield is also familiar, both Manchester clubs lost here this year, the Red Devils even grabbed a seven. Next up is the toughest test.
Arsenal will probably start with Rob Holding in the lineup, which could be the way to go for Liverpool. Holding is slow and often makes mistakes in big games, on the other hand, it is possible that he will ride the good atmosphere inside the club and play without any problems.
Tottenham vs. Brighton
Who would have expected this to be a battle of fifth versus sixth in round 30. And Brighton have two games in hand. Two teams in different mindsets in London. While the home side must win, the away side are relaxed and enjoying the season of their lives.
Tottenham lost a one-goal lead to Everton with a few minutes to go on Monday and lost the Top 4 at the same time. Moreover, the atmosphere in the Spurs cabin is not ideal.
On the other hand, Brighton have lost only one of their last 15 games. It has been incredibly playful and easy to deal with the departures of key players like Leandro Trossard, Yves Bissouma and Marc Cucurella since the summer, but it hasn’t affected the team’s performance at all.
Brentford vs. Newcastle
An underrated game with a lot of potential. The trend of both teams has completely reversed in the last three rounds. Brentford have stopped pedalling, yet are driven by the motivation to finish in the top seven. If he wants to get there, he needs at least a draw with a rampant Newcastle. Aston Villa have also entered the fray.
But Newcastle have returned to their autumn phase with the return of Alexander Isak, winning four times and are back in the top four. Losing the Carabao Cup final gave the Magpies a healthy upset, with Allan Saint-Maximin also going up in performance.
