A sensational record may fall in the UFC this year. Only 17-year-old fighter Raul Rosas Jr. will compete for a contract in the best MMA organization in the world in Dana White’s Contender Series project.
The sixth season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series kicked off in early August. In this project, Michal Martinek, who was unsuccessful, and Martin Buday, who has already had two fights in the UFC, fought for a UFC contract.
Matej Peňáz and Tereza Bledá will also appear on this show in late August and early September. However, a 17-year-old phenom from California is also fighting for a chance. Raul Rosas Jr. has already had five professional fights and won all of them. He won one by KO, the other four by submission.
Rosas is a bantamweight fighter. Standing in his way of breaking the record will be Mando Gutierrez, already a 25-year-old fighter with a record of 7: 1. The fight will take place on September 20.
It’s worth noting that in order for Rosas to fight, he had to have the signature and consent of both parents and written endorsements from members of the MMA community. This is because the Nevada Sports Commission allows fighters and fighters between the ages of 18 and 38 to fight.
Rosas trains under his father, among others. So, at the very least, parental consent for the fight might not have been much of a problem.
