This weekend sees the last round of the Premier League in October. This time there is no Top 6 confrontation on the schedule, but tough matches await Chelsea or both Manchester clubs. What matches to watch?
Manchester United vs. West Ham
Manchester United gave very decent performances in the last two rounds with Tottenham and Chelsea and will take nothing but a win at Old Trafford. They are just three points off third-placed Tottenham, plus they have a game in hand.
West Ham, on the other hand, have won 10 of their 14 league points in October, losing only 0-1 at Anfield. The reinforcements Gianluca Scamaacca and Lucas Paqueta are starting to catch on, nothing easy awaits the Manchester team at home.
Leicester vs. Manchester City
The second Manchester is waiting for a similar match. Like the Hammers, Leicester struggled in August and September, but have won three of the last five rounds, by a combined score of 10: 0. Moreover, the Foxes are strong at home and Jamie Vardy can take on Pep Guardiola.
In the away camp, it is slowly starting to look like only Erling Haaland can score goals. The last two appearances in the Champions League the Citizens have not scored, but it must be added that in the Premier League they have only come up empty against Liverpool.
Brighton vs. Chelsea
Brighton are not picking up points like they did under coach Graham Potter after his departure, but their football is still entertaining. On Saturday, the popular coach will return to the south coast, but already as a Chelsea manager who must win after two league draws in a row.
While Brighton, with a nominally mediocre lineup, is playing handsomely, Chelsea is still searching a bit under Potter. And the home side will be hungry, they haven’t won in five rounds and are slowly starting to approach the relegation zone. But they certainly don’t belong there.
