0% leather, 110% KING – PUMA comes up with innovative K-BETTER technology
Global brand PUMA has innovated the design of its “royal kicks” PUMA KING by introducing the new K-BETTER technology, which allows the kicks to deliver exceptional performance without using kangaroo leather.
PUMA KING cleats have been worn by legendary players such as Johan Cruyff, Diego Maradona, Eusébio, Lothar Matthäus and Pelé, who have dominated international football for decades. Now the KING soccer cleats are back on the field in the highest quality.
Thanks to PUMA’s latest K-BETTER technology, they are made for the first time from a completely new upper material without animal skin. The upper layer is made up of at least 20% recycled material and thus meets sustainability requirements.
During testing of the new K-BETTER technology, the original KING K-Leather was outperformed in all aspects such as touch, comfort and durability. The results of the K-BETTER technology exceeded all expectations, so PUMA decided to discontinue the production of kangaroo leather kicks this year.
“The PUMA KING soccer shoes are a true icon for us in the sport, we have always made them with the best materials using the latest technology. Over the years we have seen them become part of football culture not only on the pitch but also off it,” says Peter Stappen, product line manager of Teamsport Footwear.
“The new PUMA KING takes soccer shoes to the next level, offering maximum touch and ball guidance benefits thanks to the ultra-soft upper layer with optimal stretch resistance,” adds Peter Stappen.
In addition to the new upper, the PUMA KING soccer shoes also feature a new lightweight sole with heel support, a stabilising spine and conical studs, so players have the same control over their movements as they do over the ball.
The PUMA KING features a lightweight removable insole with NanoGrip technology that keeps the foot firmly anchored, minimizing loss of power when changing direction.
Debuting in the Supercharge edition, the PUMA KING cleats will also be offered for women, following on from the FUTURE and ULTRA models with a special women’s cut. They take into account, for example, the volume and height of the instep of the female foot.
Granit Xhaka, Ingrid Engen, Nabil Fekir, Lena Lattwein and others will be featured in the new PUMA KING sneakers.
The new PUMA KING Supercharge will be available in Sportball and on PUMA.com.
