Romelu Lukaku is not having an easy summer. There’s no place for him at Chelsea, he’s closed the door to Inter Milan on his own, and at Juventus the fans have decided to have their say on his potential arrival.

The Belgian striker was one of the most feared goalscorers on the planet until recently. Especially in a duo with Lautaro Martínez, he was a lethal weapon. But then he decided to leave for Chelsea and it just wasn’t the same. Even after returning to Inter Milan.

While last season wasn’t a flop, he couldn’t build on the two seasons he spent at the San Siro before leaving for Stamford Bridge. Still, there was speculation that Inter would be willing to buy him back.

However, this is not going to happen for a number of reasons. The main one is that Romelu Lukaku has closed his own path to the San Siro. Before the Champions League final, he was supposed to be negotiating a transfer to Juventus behind the club’s back.

Inter vice-president and legend Javier Zanetti called him a traitor and the club’s management is disappointed with the Belgian.

Juventus saw in Lukaku a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, whose future is still being speculated. But he is not welcome at the Turin club. At least the fans have made that quite clear.

On Wednesday night, Juventus played a training match with the youth team at their stadium and the match was attended by the fans, who were not the least present. All the time in the stands there were shouts against the Belgian goalscorer.

After the match, which ended 8-0 in favour of the Bianconeri A-team, many supporters even stormed the pitch and made their voices heard against Lukaku’s arrival at the Allianz Stadium.

However, Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal are still interested in the player. So Lukaku still has at least some option where to go at worst. He certainly wouldn’t be under so much pressure outside of Europe
