Liberec announces big signings before the start of the Extraliga! Experienced forward from the NHL arrives

The Czech Tipsport Extraliga starts this weekend and the Bílí Tygři Liberec are bringing in reinforcements just before the start. The hockey team from the north of Bohemia has agreed with Jayce Hawryluk, who has played almost 100 games in the NHL. Among others, the Canadian forward has tried his hand at the AHL and Sweden.

Pešán’s plan to acquire a forward worked out before the start of the league

Liberec’s head coach Filip Pešán wanted to add an experienced scorer to his offensive line, and he achieved it a few days before the start of the extraliga. The White Tigers signed a one-year contract with American Jayce Hawryluk.

“Jayce is a very skilled forward who will bring us energy and hard work on both ends of the court. He pushes himself into the forechecking area where he will increase our emphasis and we can use him in several roles on the power play,” said Pesan about the forward.

“His contract is for one year, but if both sides are interested, we can talk about extending his contract for another season,” the Liberec coach added.

Hawryluk has accumulated almost 100 NHL starts, played in the AHL and Sweden

The Canadian celebrated his 27th birthday this year and has gained a lot of experience during his career. He began his career in the WHL and represented Team Canada at international events in the junior ranks. He also played in the Czech Republic at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial.

In 2014, he was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the second round. He spent most of his time on the farm in the AHL and made his first NHL appearance in 2018. After his time in Florida, he played for the Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks. Jayce Hawryluk has played 98 games in the NHL, scoring 12 goals and 15 assists.

He also played one year in the Swedish Hockey League. Last year he played in the AHL on the Vancouver farm and then moved to the New Jersey Devils farm. Now he has signed with the White Tigers from Liberec.
