I had many offers from the Premier League but my dream was always Barcelona, says Fati after signing new contract

Ansu Fati has had a very difficult time not being able to play due to injury. But now he is back and he is again giving the performances we were used to seeing from him before. He has also agreed a new contract with Barcelona that will keep him in the team until 2027.

Although the talented winger was born in Bissau, his talent was soon noticed by Sevilla, from where Barcelona brought him to their academy back in 2012. Since then, Fati has been improving step by step until the year before last, when he took his first peek at the A-team.

In those two years he has made a really big progress, while he was still slowed down by a knee injury for a few months. Even so, he impressed enough that practically every European big club was after him, hoping that the financial problems of the Catalan outfit would not allow both parties to sign a contract.

But it would be a sin to let such a promising footballer leave, and all the more so when he is permeated through and through with the club mentality. It is Fati who should be the main driving force behind the new star generation.

“I had many offers from the Premier League, but my dream was always Barcelona. I told Jorge Mendes from day one that my first choice was to stay here. He understood me perfectly and I am very happy that the club believes in me,” the Spanish superstar told Fabrizio Romano.

Fati has played 5 games so far this season, during which he has scored twice and added an assist. If his health holds, we will surely see many more beautiful offensive actions this season.

Fati and co. will get a big opportunity to prove themselves on Sunday, when El Clásico is on the schedule. In addition, Sergio Agüero is already getting into the game. These two players, along with Memphis Depay, should be Barcelona’s main attacking force.
