The expected has come true. Mason Mount has been linked with a move to Manchester United for quite some time, with definite confirmation now coming. The Red Devils have officially confirmed the arrival of their first summer signing on the club’s website.

Mason Mount was one of the Chelsea London players who was linked with a move away as a result of the squad reshuffle. The player himself was reportedly not happy at Stamford Bridge recently and agreed to the transfer.

His transfer to Manchester United has been speculated for several months, with the Old Trafford outfit officially confirming his arrival on Wednesday lunchtime, via the club’s website.

“It’s never easy to leave the club you grew up at, but Manchester United will be an exciting new challenge for me in the next stage of my career. Having competed against them, I know what a strong team I am coming into,” Mount said in an interview with the club website.

“I couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming seasons and I’m ready to work hard. The club has made great strides under the leadership of Erik ten Hag. I am extremely ambitious. I know how great it feels to win big trophies and what it takes to do that. I will give everything to experience it again at Manchester United,” he added.

As already reported by Italian trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United will send £55 million to Chelsea, plus another £5 million in bonuses.

Mount will sign a long-term contract at Old Trafford, valid until the end of June 2028, with an option for a one-year extension.

Mount at Chelsea

The England international is a Chelsea offspring and has been permanently settled in the A-team since the 2019/20 season. Before that, the London club sent him on loan to Vitesse or Derby County.

Mount has played 195 competitive games for the Blues, scoring 33 goals and assisting on another 37. With Chelsea he won the Champions League, the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
