He will probably soon be the winner of the eighth Ballon d’Or for the best footballer on the planet. He has had a fantastic season in which he finally became a world champion. Since then, as if a giant boulder has fallen from him, he has been enjoying his football.
Especially since he signed for Inter Miami, you can see that Lionel Messi is totally relaxed. It’s as if all the pressure has gone. And being the best footballer in history? He doesn’t mention it, he doesn’t dwell on it, he just lives in the moment.
At 36, he’s got nothing left to prove. Yet he still convinces the fans that he’s not old hat. Last time he played for Argentina, he played against Peru. He scored two goals, and also made a few Peruvians laugh with his individual action.
There’s a lot of talk that he might return to Europe, at least temporarily. If only on a short loan. After all, even the management of Inter Miami say they want to give him a proper farewell to Barcelona.
Besides, Messi is still the target of interest of some clubs from Saudi Arabia, which tried to acquire the Argentine idol during the summer. However, the best footballer in history has rejected the astronomical offers, preferring to head to Miami.
Will Messi return to Europe?
After basically single-handedly beating Peru, Lionel Messi faced questions from journalists. Understandably, some of them were directed at the future of the 36-year-old footballer.
Is a move away from Miami on loan in the cards? “No. I’ll train I’ll play Inter’s next game against Charlotte and then I’ll try my best to prepare to make the Argentina national team in November,” Goal quotes him as saying.
“Then I’ll enjoy my holidays in Argentina. It will be the first time I will have more days off in December, with holidays, in peace, with my people. In January I will return to the club to take part in pre-season training. I will start from scratch and prepare as best as I can, as I always do,” Messi added.
Besides that, however, he lamented Miami’s failure to make it to the MLS playoffs. He admits, however, that it was not easy because of a tough competition schedule or several injuries, for example.
“It’s a shame. We were close. I missed the last few games, we had some injuries. July was tough for us, we played and travelled every three days, which took its toll on us,” concluded the topic of the best footballer in history.
