PSG are experiencing their worst start to a season since the Qatari owner took over the club! What does coach Enrique have to say?
Paris Saint-Germain are not experiencing an ideal start to the new league season, in fact it is the worst start to a new season since the Qatari owner took over the club in 2011. In the fifth round of Ligue 1, they recorded their third point loss, this time at home to Nice 1:3.
Paris Saint-Germain are not experiencing an ideal start to the new league season, in fact, it is the worst start to a new season since the Qatari owner took over the club in 2011. In the fifth round of Ligue 1, they recorded their third loss, this time at home to Nice 1:3.
The Parisians did not start the new season in good form. In the first round they only drew 0:0 with Lorient on home soil, then drew again. This time, however, 1:1 in Toulouse. Subsequently, they won two matches – they beat Lens 3:1 at home and in the fourth round of Ligue 1 they won at Lyon (4:1).
On Friday night, the French club was facing an unpleasant and ambitious Nice, but Luis Enrique’s charges wanted to go for their third win in a row.
But that didn’t happen. It was the visitors who scored the first goal of the match in the 21st minute when Terem Moffi got a chance in the whitewash to open the scoring.
Eight minutes later, however, it was level, with Kylian Mbappé scoring the home side’s opening goal. However, in the 53rd minute, Nice came through again, this time with Gaetan Laborde on the end of the scoring action.
The visitors exerted a lot of pressure on their opponents at times during the match. And of course, that’s where the goals came from. In the 68th minute, Nice even pulled away to a two-goal difference – Moffi dispossessed several opponents in the middle of the field and then sent a sharp ground shot that went into the net – 3: 1.
In the end of the match, the star Mbappé corrected the match, but it did not change the loss of valuable points. PSG thus recorded their third loss of points in the opening five matches of the new Ligue 1 season.
Enrique after the match: I have nothing to complain about
“I’m happy with the team’s performance, I really am. If you give 100 per cent, what can I complain about? We certainly have room for improvement, yes, we know that, but I’m not worried about it,” said coach Enrique after the game, who was also quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Although this is the worst start to a new season for PSG since 2011, when the French big club was taken over by a Qatari owner, it still has to be taken into account that it is only the beginning of the season. Currently, Paris Saint-Germain players are in a respectable third place with eight points.
