Alexander Zverev vs. Jannik Sinner: Preview and betting tips
On Monday, the second half of the US Open semifinal matches will be played. Most attention will probably be focused on the Zverev-Sinner clash. The German tennis player is a slight favourite to advance.
On Monday, the second half of the US Open semifinal matches will be played. Most attention will probably be focused on the Zverev-Sinner clash. The German tennis player is a slight favourite to advance.
Alexander Zverev is gradually getting back to the form he had before the serious ankle injury he suffered during last year’s French Open. He is currently 12th in the ATP rankings.
The twenty-six-year-old German tennis player is also fighting for a place in the Tournament of Champions, for which the top eight tennis players of the previous calendar year always qualify. Zverev is currently ranked ninth with 2850 points.
He is doing very well at the US Open. He lost two sets on his way to the eight-finals, one of which was in a tiebreak. He spent less than ten hours on the court in total.
Jannik Sinner is a twenty-two-year-old Italian tennis player. He can currently be found at number six in the ATP rankings, and could move ahead of Stefanos Tsitsipas if he wins on Monday.
Sinner is almost unstoppable this year. Since the beginning of January he has a record of 44 wins and only twelve losses. He has won titles at tournaments in Montpellier and also in Toronto.
He hasn’t had any major difficulties at the US Open. stan Wawrinka gave him the most trouble in the third round, but the Swiss tennis player lost after sets 3:6, 6:2, 4:6 and 2:6. The match lasted exactly three hours.
On Monday we will see the fifth match between these two rivals. Zverev has already won three duels, but that was before his injury. Given the current performances of both players, I favor the Italian tennis player.
Betting tip | Sinner will win at odds of 1.64
