The renowned Polish organization, which ranks among the largest not only in Europe, is preparing for its first tournament in the Czech Republic. KSW 79 gala will take place in Liberec on 25 February.
One of the main draws was supposed to be Michal Martinek, former Oktagon champion and potential title challenger just in KSW, who was supposed to fight for a comeback after being robbed of victory in his last fight.
But now we know that Martinek will not be appearing at the tournament at all. He announced unpleasant information about his health condition, which will cause him to take a break for several months.
“I found out at the post-surgery check-up with Dr. Kebrle that the recovery will take months and I won’t be able to compete at KSW in February. It looks more like the beginning of summer. I have a long recovery and rest ahead of me,” he announced on his Facebook profile.
“Unfortunately, the tendon holding both biceps heads ruptured. If I hadn’t had it stitched and anchored to the bone, my arm would be 40% weaker, which I don’t like,” Martinek explained his injury.
“Ateam of specialists are working on my condition and we are doing everything we can to get me back as soon as possible, but at full strength,” he added.
He apologized to the fans for his absence from the tournament, but he certainly doesn’t look broken. On the contrary. He’s determined to come back stronger, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
