Champions League draw: Plzeň in the group of death! Challenges Barcelona, Bayern and Inter
The new edition of the Champions League has announced all its participants, including Viktoria Plzeň from the Czech Republic. The first matches of the regular group will be played on 6 September and after Thursday’s draw, there is once again something to look forward to. Plzen will face Barcelona, Bayern and Inter in the group.

Plzen will face Barcelona, Bayern and Inter in the group. Reigning champion Real Madrid will challenge Leipzig, Shakhtar and Celtic.
After two years in the group, we will also see a Czech team. Viktoria Plzen has gone through three tough preliminary rounds without a single defeat and will play in the main stage of the Champions League for the fourth time in its history. In their last match they beat Karabakh, who were relegated to the Europa League.
Pilsen last played in the Champions League in the 2018/19 season, when they faced Real Madrid, AS Roma and Russia’s CSKA. They finished third in the group and thus qualified for the Europa League.
The German Bundesliga has the most representatives in the Champions League, with five teams. One of them is Frankfurt as the winner of the last edition of the Europa League.
Turkish midfielder Hamit Altintop and former Manchester City player Yaya Touré had the honour of drawing the Champions League group for the 2022/23 edition.
Czech spectators will be watching closely Group C , where Viktoria Plzen will play their matches. Pilsen have been drawn in the group of death. In this group they will play Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Inter Milan.
Tottenham have a relatively favourable draw. The London club will face Frankfurt, Sporting Lisbon and Marseille. The reigning champion Real Madrid will be in Group F, where they will take on Germany’s Leipzig. Shakhtar and Celtic are the group’s outsiders.
Group E is also paper-packed with last year’s winner Chelsea, Italy’s AC Milan, Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb. There will also be a clash of the big clubs in Group H. There will be a clash between PSG and Juventus. They will be joined by Benfica and Maccabi Haifa.

The main groups will get underway on 6 and 7 September. The final will take place on 10 June next year at the Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
