Champions League

We already have the top 8 teams in Europe for this season. While Spain and England will be represented by 3 teams, France and Italy haven’t even sent a representative to the quarter-finals.

Spain is pinning its highest hopes on Real Madrid, who knocked out PSG in the eighth round. The Iberian country will also be represented by Atlético Madrid, who knocked out Manchester United, and Villarreal, who were sensational against Juventus.
There were two more handcuffs in the fire, but they were unexpectedly burnt. The famous Barcelona dropped out already in the group, as did Sevilla, who were expected to advance in the playable group (Lille, Salzburg, Wolfsburg). Still, three teams in the top eight is a great achievement.
England is the same way. Manchester City knocked out Sporting Lisbon, Liverpool overcame Inter Milan. The third team is Chelsea, who advanced at the expense of Lille. The fourth English team is still in the Champions League, but Manchester United fell to Atlético Madrid.
Bayern Munich of Germany and Benfica Lisbon of Portugal round out the top eight. Two footballing powers, Italy and France, are thus experiencing a major decline this year.
Italy has sent Juventus, Inter, AC Milan and Atalanta into the game. The first two advanced to the eighth round, but fell out at the expense of Villarreal and Liverpool respectively. Atalanta were relegated from third place to the Europa League, AC Milan were last and will play nothing in the spring.
France were the ones with a lot of confidence this year. It only sent two teams to the Champions League, but it was Lille and especially star-studded PSG. Both teams made it to the eighth finals, but that was the final. Lille were no match for Chelsea, PSG had a collapse with Real Madrid.
So who is the current favourite to win the Champions League? You could break it down into different types of favourites. Based on experience and Real Madrid’s ability to handle big European games. By current form, probably Liverpool. According to the strength of the squad, Manchester City, but it lacks something in European matches, it has never won the Champions League for nothing. And we can’t forget about the traditionally strong Bayern.
