Another departure from Barcelona. This time it is Miralem Pjanic, who is leaving the Catalan club for Turkey. This is a fantastic signing for the Istanbul club, but how long will he spend in Besiktas?
The new signing was unveiled by the Turkish club’s representatives on the second of September. After a year in the jersey of the Catalan giant, Pjanic is saying goodbye. For how long?
The thirty-one-year-old player was linked with a return to Juventus during the summer transfer period, but Barcelona, according to Italian media, was not willing to pay part of his salary.
And so Besiktas announce a new addition to their ranks. The former Juventus and AS Roma star will be a guest in Turkey until the end of the current season. Besiktas, meanwhile, will only pay €2.7 million of his total annual salary, which is €8 million.
At the same time, this is not a guest contract with an option, so Pjanic will 100% return to Barcelona after the expiry of this period.
Pjanic expressed his interest in returning to Juventus just before the end of the summer transfer period, but he himself was not sure if the negotiations with the Italian giant would go as he wanted.
Pjanic has played 30 games for Barcelona so far. However, he has failed to score or even register an assist in any of them.
In Italy, however, he has done incomparably better. He played 185 games for AS Roma, scoring 30 goals and 44 assists. As for his involvement with Juventus, he scored 22 goals and added 41 assists in 178 games.
His contract at the Nou Camp expires at the end of June 2024.
