PSG’s promise to Mbappe forces management to negotiate with Real Madrid
Real Madrid offered PSG 160 million euros for Kylian Mbappé, but the Parisian management does not want to sell their gem, but still has not responded to the offer. Why? Because of the promise they made to the French starlet four years ago.
Real Madrid offered PSG 160 million euros for Kylian Mbappé, but the Parisian management does not want to sell their gem, but still has not responded to the offer. Why? Because of the promise they made to the French starlet four years ago.
Kylian Mbappé has been a big fan of Real Madrid since he was a kid. Playing in the white jersey at the Santiago Bernabéu has always been his dream. When he flew out like a comet in a Monaco jersey in 2017, it was Real Madrid with Mbappé’s icon Zinedine Zidane who came knocking on the door.
Back then, however, the BBC trio (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano) were running rampant in Los Blancos’ attack, through which Mbappé didn’t see many opportunities to force his way through. Therefore, he opted for an intermediate move to PSG, with the idea that Mbappé and Real’s paths would cross in the future.
He left for Paris with that in mind. Literally. In fact, when he signed his contract at the Parc des Princes, he was promised by PSG management that if an offer from Real Madrid landed, PSG would have to negotiate with the Madrid outfit.
The club’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been saying all summer that Mbappé is unsellable and isn’t going anywhere. However, this public pressure did not sit well with the 22-year-old striker, who requested a meeting with the management. And at that meeting, sporting director Leonardo and president Al-Khelaifi reminded him of his four-year-old promise.
And the offer from Real Madrid arrived. President Florentino Pérez has officially offered PSG 160 million euros, but the Parisian club’s management has not yet responded. Perhaps because Mbappé expects the management to keep its promise.
Mbappé’s contract expires next year, so he would go to Real Madrid as a free agent. According to both French and Spanish media, PSG management know about the verbal promise they made to Mbappé and that they must not turn their backs on their player.
And given that Real Madrid have sent a very generous offer reaching 160 million euros, it can be expected that Mbappé will move to Madrid before the end of the transfer window.
