Bayer Leverkusen are on the rise and they wanted to prove it in the Europa League. However, they did not face an easy opponent, as a fired-up Monaco arrived in Germany boosted by their victory over PSG. The team was not helped by a mistake from goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky. But Florian Wirtz made things right for the fans.

Leverkusen vs. Monaco was one of the biggest highlights of the Europa League first knockout round. And right from the start, there was no shortage of entertainment. Monaco went ahead early after a fatal mistake by captain and goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky.

The German side took a long time to recover from the goal. They managed to recover only in the second act. After a good combination, Moussa Diaby first equalised in the 48th minute, but the most beautiful moment came moments later.

In the 59th minute, only 19-year-old Florian Wirtz took the ball in front of Monaco’s penalty area and shamed the Princes’ defence, turning the game in his team’s favour.

Wirtz is one of the greatest talents in world football. Transfermarkt estimates his value at 70 million euros, but it is clear that if his transfer happens, it will be much more expensive.

The German super talent himself is in no hurry to leave Leverkusen. Indeed, he has no reason to. He is currently returning from a serious injury that kept him out of action for a long time.
