The new season of Formula 1 is fast approaching and as usual, the next season of the well-known series Drive to Survive will be released on Netflix before the new season. The specific date is set for Friday, February 23. What can you look forward to in the sixth season?
This is the sixth installment of the very well-known Netflix documentary series, which always focuses on a specific season.
Netflix started the Drive to Survive series in 2018. And already then the American company reaped many positive reactions for its product.
Although the last two seasons have created a sort of artificial atmosphere and tension between the drivers, Formula 1 has also gained a lot of new fans thanks to this series.
This has been confirmed by Liberty Media, the owner of the F1 commercial rights, in earlier years. And although many drivers are not too keen on Drive to Survive, mainly because of the artificial atmosphere it creates, Netflix is still able to offer viewers and F1 fans a closer look behind the scenes of the sport.
In any case, what can we look forward to in the sixth series, which will be released on February 23? That’s what the trailer, which Netflix released on Tuesday afternoon, reveals.
What will season 6 of Drive to Survive have to offer?
The sixth series of the documentary series Drive to Survive will offer a closer look into the ambitious Aston Martin. Especially in the very first episode. In the opening three races of the season, Fernando Alonso finished on the podium each time. But later in the season Aston’s form steadily deteriorated.
The second episode takes fans into the story of Nyck de Vries, who was only given ten races by AlphaTauri, or Red Bull. He was then replaced by Daniel Ricciardo.
The third episode is about McLaren, which has had a disastrous start to the new season. But then, miraculously, it picked up its performance and returned to the fight for the podium. The battle in the second half of the grid between Williams and Haas, that’s what episode 4 will offer.
In the fifth installment of series six, we take a closer look at the rivalry between Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon in Alpine. We’ll then return to the French stable in episode seven, with Drive to Survive as the investor. Alpine as a factory team is still far behind expectations.
Episode six will be all about Mercedes, specifically looking more closely at Lewis Hamilton’s negotiations with Toto Wolff. Given the shock transfer, it’s a welcome development for fans. In episode eight, we head to Ferrari, where all eyes are on team boss Fred Vasseur.
As per tradition, Daniel Ricciardo will also get a piece of the action as he returns to F1 during the 2023 season. The final tenth episode will be about the battle for the final second place in the Constructors’ Cup between Ferrari and Mercedes.
