Ronaldo to MLS? Beckham’s team is willing to make the Portuguese sovereignly the highest paid player in the history of the competition

Is deliverance coming? Cristiano Ronaldo still hasn’t earned a place in the Manchester United line-up, and his performances for the Portuguese national team haven’t exactly been enough to warrant a call-up either. David Beckham’s club could make the Portuguese sovereignly the highest-paid player in MLS history.

It’s October. Cristiano Ronaldo is healthy. However, not only is he nowhere near the top of the scoring stats, he doesn’t even have a place in the Manchester United line-up. He could have been saved by the national team reunion, where he did play in the Portugal jersey, but his performance was not great.

There was talk of him leaving Old Trafford in the summer, which ultimately did not happen. However, it is likely to happen in the winter. Speculation about the Portuguese legend’s departure from the European continent is growing.

David Beckham, who owns overseas club Inter Miami, has never made any secret of his interest in Ronaldo. He will soon leave for the outgoing Argentine Gonzalo Higuaín, who will also leave a vacancy under the salary cap.

According to the Daily Star, Beckham has a concrete offer for Ronaldo and Manchester United. The Red Devils are reportedly demanding £10 million, however Inter Miami are demanding that the Portuguese can leave Old Trafford for free.

As Miami wants to save on the transfer sum, they conversely don’t want to save on the wages Ronaldo would receive. Inter are said to be willing to pay the football legend £30 million a year.

It’s worth mentioning that Ronaldo regularly visits Florida, so he could be comfortable in Miami football-wise and a transfer would make sense.

It’s just that even though the Portuguese doesn’t play regularly, he makes Manchester United a lot of money because of his commercial strength. That’s also why the club didn’t sell him in the summer for offers of around £15m.

But if the transfer happens, Ronaldo will become the highest paid player in MLS history. The record is currently held by Xherdan Shaqiri, who earns £6.62 million a year.
